The Integrative Business Experience (IBE) offered through the Harmon College of Business Administration at the University of Central Missouri is a unique set of three business courses and a three credit hour practicum. These courses include Management Information Systems, Management of Organizations, Marketing Policy, and a Integrative Business Experience Practicum. The goal is to gain hands on experience and actual knowledge for real-world business. Students in the IBE course start up their own company, select a product to market, acquire funding without any support from the university, and then donate all of the profit to a charity of their choice.
In addition to learning about business practices, students are also asked to donate time and effort to a charity. This can be donating service hours to their charity or a separate service project. Each company member is expected to complete a certain number of community service hours as determined by the company's goal at the beginning of the semester.
