What is IBE? |
|
The Integrative Business Experience (IBE) is a very unique program offered through the Harmon College of Business at the University of Central Missouri. The program consists of three business courses and a three credit hour practicum. The three business courses include Management of Organizations, Management of Information Systems, and Marketing Policy. These are taught with regular lectures and team based learning. The three credit hour practicum includes a business portion and a service portion. Students are given the opportunity to have hands on experience by creating a business and serving a charity in the community. As far as the business portion, the students choose a product, present a loan proposal, manage all the finances, market the product, and sell the product. When the semester is over all of the profits made are donated to a charity. Also, during the semester the companies donate service time to the charity of their choice by completing a minimum number of service hours determined by the company. Creating a business and serving the community is a great experience that gives students a great advantage for their future business careers. |
